Last Monday, on March 16, 2023, our venerable Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark to draw up discussions on India's future plans of developing next-generation digital infrastructure. In fact, PM Modi tweeted about this meeting himself from his official social media account.
“A fruitful meeting with Mr.@PekkaLundmark in which we discussed aspects relating to technology and leveraging it for the welfare of society. We also discussed India’s strides in building next-generation digital infrastructure,” the caption wrote. Follow the link below to view his tweet online:
Lundmark also acknowledged the meeting that he had the ‘privilege’ of attending with Prime Minister Modi, and discussed how Nokia is certain about supporting India’s 6G dreams, and how the company is firmly contributing to India's 5G journey and their future phases of digital transformation.

Chiefly for 5G private networks, Nokia wants to offer steady competition in the market towards its rivals, and even outsmart their production and development in the country.
A bit about Mr. Pekka Lundmark:
Pekka Lundmark is a Finnish businessman who was appointed as the CEO of Nokia Corporation on August 1, 2020 and previously worked for Nokia between 1990 and 2000. Pekka started his Nokia career as an account manager, responsible for the launch of the world’s first GSM network.
Prior to joining Nokia, Lundmark served as the President and CEO of Fortum Corporation, a leading energy company based in Finland. He has also held various executive positions in other companies, including Konecranes Plc and Hackman Group.
Lundmark holds a Master's degree in Science (Technology) from Helsinki University of Technology, now part of Aalto University, and a Master's degree in Economics from Helsinki School of Economics, now part of Aalto University School of Business.
According to Nokia India chief marketing officer Amit Marwah, Nokia has been leading several private networks all across the world, and has offered more than 500 deployment opportunities globally. “This business is growing very fast and we see the same kind of trend in India too,” he added.
