Singapore is the ‘Best Airport in the World’ again! Best Airport Shopping, Dining, Staff…check out the other awards. How do they decide?

Singapore’s Changi Airport had to lose out on its top spot to Doha’s Hamad International Airport, Qatar, for two straight years due to heightened Covid-19 restrictions. However, it looks like they have successfully snatched their crown back, yet again!

Hamad International Airport, Doha slipped to the 2nd place.

The third spot was grabbed by Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, Japan in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023.

The American airports failed to make into the Top 10 list.

John F. Kennedy International Airport fell down to the 88th spot, while Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, China, jumped up 26 places to 31. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has received the award for the Best Airport in India, and has leaped up from 37 in 2022 to 36 in 2023.

Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer, has declared how honoured the Changi Airport is to be awarded as the Best Airport for the twelfth time. He has accepted this recognition as a huge source of encouragement for the entire airport community, who stood against the adversities posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, firmly together.

How do they decide?

SKYTRAZ Awards are based on customer survey and the votes. A central directive of the survey is for customers to make their own, personal choices as to which airport they consider to be the best, underlining the brand as the Passenger’s Choice Awards.

For the 2022-23 Awards over 100 customer nationalities participated and the survey was conducted from August 2022 until February 2023.

The customer survey is not restricted to member airports. Any airport in the world can be nominated in the survey.

The survey evaluates traveller experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate. 

All entries screened to identify each IP / user information, with duplicate or ineligible entries deleted.
