April 19, 2023: When it comes to collecting maximum reaches on social media, short videos are undoubtedly the trophy-bearer! What has Instagram planned for Reels, now? Continue reading to know more.
Instagram has been rapidly trying to strengthen its short-video games for a better outreach and user accessibility through featured Reels, and it simultaneously also competes with TikTok and YouTube shorts in the very same field.
To develop an edge over its competitors, Instagram has decided upon making its Reels feature even more appealing to content creators by adding multiple new features to its popular short-video platform.
From allowing its users to utilise the Reels platform in developing engaging audience-catchy content in 15s, 30s, 45s and 60s, to offering options to share the same video online on their stories, and with their friends, Instagram has successfully pushed this feature into our regular social media experience.
Now, a whole new batch of new features will be rolling out to Instagram users in the coming weeks.
The Meta-owned platform has now introduced features that would make it easier for us to find out what’s trending on Reels. A new section with top trending hashtags and songs will now be available to creators on Instagram to engage and develop content that the audience would wish to look for, or are in demand.
“These are the types of insights you can tap into with the new trends destination,” says Instagram.
Another new feature will work as a modified video editor to align the individual videos according to their time and sequence while making a Reel in a more visually-convenient way. In fact, the new metrics would now provide enhanced details with information about total watch time and average watch time, and the data can now be accessed directly from Reels.
Instagram Reels would offer :
- Total watch time details, that would be a summation of the total amount of time a reel was played, including any time spent on replaying the reel.
- Average watch time, that is, a summation of the average amount of time spent on playing a reel, calculated by dividing watch time with the number of total plays.
“For example if your average watch time is 17 seconds, out of everyone who watched your Reel they watched an average of 17 seconds. This will help you better understand where people are being engaged or where you may need to create a stronger hook to have viewers stay longer,” Instagram explains.
After these new features are added to Instagram, creators will get notifications upon receiving new followers because of Reels.
The Gifts feature, which allows fans to support their creators with money, will also be extended to more countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Mexico, New Zealand, and the UK.
