September 13th, 2021:China decides to balance Academics, family time, Indoor and Outdoor games for children
Children under the age of 18 now have time restrictions on video gaming. The time is now limited to 8pm - 9pm and only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays will be a bonus for minors but for 1 hour again between 8 pm - 9pm
Mixed reactions came from all over on Social media and no praise for guessing which age group reacted how
Parents, even from the western countries, agreed to the decision of restricting minors from spending excessive time on video games. Psychologists and parents do believe that video gaming can lead to an addiction which becomes hard to recover from for children. Chinese Authorities believe the addiction to video games leads to children being distracted from school work, family and physical sports.
They believe that this decision, over a period of time, will encourage them to focus more on academics, spending quality time with family and indulge in physical sports and activities which are essential for physical and mental health of a child.
But this isn't the first time such regulations have been imposed and the earlier policy restricted use of gaming limited to 90 minutes a day, 3 hours on holidays and not post 10 pm
This new rule adversely affected the Chinese gaming stocks and the Investment Companies which held stakes in Gaming Companies affected by this rule in China
