22 February, 2023: You’ve heard about airbags in cars. But now there are airbags in jeans too ! How does it work ? Watch the video.
While airbags are typically not included with motorbikes, some creative thinkers have developed a smart and creative way to safeguard motorcyclists. Airbags have been installed in their JEANS !
How does it work ?
In order to shield the lower body in case of an accident, the Swedish company Mo'cycle has created a pair of trousers that instantly inflate upon a fall.
They are made out of CO2 [Carbon Dioxide] containers that emit the gas when the rider begins to fall off their bike.
But, the motorcycle must be attached in order for the pants to detect a fall. Mo'cycle does this by using an elastic tether which is like a chain or a cord that permits the user to move around freely while still being fastened to the bicycle. Thus the motorcycle in itself does not need any modifications to attach the tether.
This indicates that the motorcycle doesn't require any extra modifications in order to join the tether.
The tether is pulled apart and separates from the jeans as the rider begins to fall off the seat as a result of an accident. The airbags in the pants then begin to blow up.
To do this, a cylinder shaped thing called a piston which has springs in it releases the gas that inflates the airbag. Due to the quickness of the procedure, the bags may be fully filled before the rider even touches the ground. These airbags cost $499[₹41,309]
“'The jeans are just as comfortable as any other pants, and are made with water repellent, breathable and abrasion resistant fabric,” Mo'cycle has written on its website.
When a collision occurs, the airbag ultimately deflates and the jeans shrink back to their previous size, allowing the device to be recharged with a new CO2 [Carbon Dioxide] cartridge.
